Something Concrete
photo blog

So, for the past few weeks I’ve been taking an Intro to Photography class and really enjoying some of the photographs that I’ve taken so far.

When the class started, what I didn’t want to do was take photos of things that were obviously interesting and call it art. I thought that was too easy and too boring. I wanted to test my capabilities as a photographer, not snapshot the beauty already in the world. Instead, I wanted to limit myself to the familiar and make it interesting, find the beauty in the boring. So, I chose the most mundane subject I could: UCSD

If I succeed in making UCSD look interesting, I thought to myself: I could make anything interesting. And so, I’ve been taking photos on the campus and trying, sometimes in vain, to create something interesting; to capture seductive moments. Photos coming up!

I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

useful?

haha, i’m having trouble thinking of a use for this little blog of mine. i think i’ll just throw whatever is on my mind at the moment onto it and hopefully it’ll take off into profound musings of the world and interesting content.

we shall see, won’t we?
